Who I Am. What I Do.
As a registered dietitian nutritionist for over 20 years (that's the RDN after my name), I have a wealth of practical experience in nutrition education for audiences of all backgrounds and ages.
While earning a doctorate and becoming a college professor (that's the PhD after my name), I learned to interpret the latest health and wellness research. As a nutrition counselor, lifestyle coach, worksite wellness presenter, writer, and fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (that's the FAND after my name), I translate the science into practical information, tailoring nutrition and lifestyle advice to individuals. With my active lifestyle and love of sports, I know the importance of fueling my body and helping others fuel theirs. As a mom, I want quick and easy tips to please everyone. I also encourage my kids and others to listen to their bodies, enjoy food, eat intuitively and mindfully, and live a healthy lifestyle. As a patient myself and a member of a family tree full of chronic illnesses, I know how important it is to prevent or manage heart disease, IBS, cancer, diabetes, gluten sensitivity, etc. As a world traveler, I have explored local and cultural food practices, and believe there is no one perfect diet but an exciting assortment of dietary patterns that work. As an environmentalist, I want to eat in a way that does not contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, dead zones, overfishing and water waste. I can empathize with you... Demanding schedule. Tight budget. Stress. Finding time to exercise. Sleep difficulties. Slowing metabolism. Digestive issues. I know your life is an important, exhilarating, messy medley that needs fine-tuning, and I can help!
